Hi, I'm Tania! Welcome to my creative corner!
I am a Chilean artist currently residing in Dublin. My work as an artist, educator, and researcher is deeply influenced by my experience as a migrant. Through my art, I explore the tension between the foreign body and the gaze of horror that emerges in encounters with the unknown—the "other." My research on Body Horror has been crucial in understanding and expressing the complexities of identity and transformation. The figures I create are not entirely human but rather ambiguous masses, challenging perceptions of what we define as human. These intentionally ambiguous forms seek to provoke a sense of unease, playing with discomfort and uncertainty.
Throughout my artistic journey, I have realized how our perceptions of the body and identity are profoundly shaped by encounters with the unfamiliar. My works become a space where the indeterminate and the transient meet, inviting reflection on how bodies transform and how we are perceived or misinterpreted by others. It is an ongoing process of challenging what is considered normal, encouraging a reconsideration of the fluidity of identity and corporeality.
