About the research “No Soy”
In "No Soy" (I Am Not), I explore how the female body, when viewed and appropriated by the patriarchal, white gaze, is transformed into a fragmented creature, struggling to resist the act of being consumed. My research focuses on the body as flesh, not as object, and its ability to shed the narratives imposed by others. My work focuses on the contradictions of a body that does not wish to be consumed or reduced to a static image, but rather resists, deforms, reinvents itself. As a migrant artist, this transformation arises from an experience in which otherness is not only a visual theme, but a deep process of struggle with the perception of others, that which tries to reduce the diverse to the homogeneous. Through these figures, I seek not only to represent rejection, but to manifest the power of the body that resists being named or defined by others.
